Video Summary: Datrium’s Data Cloud Software & DVX Launch

I’ve been testing out our new Video curation software this weekend and I’m excited to share a new innovation we’ve created. One of our goals at SiliconANGLE Media is to continue to provide fast, high quality content to our audience. As you know, video has always been at the heart of our content approach. Every year, we invest in R&D to try and create some amazing digital capabilities that can improve content creation, delivery and the consumption experience for our community.

One of our most recent innovations is the ability to quickly search through a video to make the best content discoverable. We are now able to search a video transcript and synchronize a highlight within the video to create snackable bites. What’s more – we can put these clips out on social media with deep linking back to the source video file. We can also combine the short clips into a spotify-like “playlist.”

This morning, I successfully summarized Datrium’s Data Cloud & DVX Systems launch that took place at SiliconANGLE Media’s new Palo Alto Studio this past March. The launch was a very cool example of how some of our clients are using the new studio. Datrium paid us to produce the launch which was held in front of a live studio audience. Our team tricked out the studio and displayed some killer graphics on our green screen that Datrium execs used to convey their messaging.

Unlike most of stuff we publish on Wikibon, there’s no independent analysis in this video content – it’s purely Datrium company and product material. But they’re a hot new company with some super experienced founders that seem to be doing well for a startup in a very competitive storage space. What interested me was: 1/ the pace of company growth; 2/ their vision around bringing cloud-like simplicity to the data center; and 3/ the tech described by Datrium’s CTO and technical founders.

But the most exciting thing for me in doing this was to be able to take an hour long video and display content selectively and in a playlist summary below.

Here’s the flow of the Datrium launch that I created:

1. CMO Craig Nunes frames the launch with some good milestone data on Datrium and a bit of marketing mumbo jumbo.
2. CEO Brian Biles – several clips talking about Datrium’s re-thinking of private cloud and how to eliminate storage complexity.
3. CTO Hugo Patterson laying out Datrium’s vision of an “Idealized Cloud.”
4. Sazzala Reddy, Datrium Co-founder on the building blocks of Datrium’s architecture.
5. Boris Weismann, Datrium Co-founder talking about how Datrium re-imagined array-based replication.
6. Brian Biles wrapping up the launch.

I hope you enjoy this new capability that we’ll be rolling out over the next several weeks. I’d love your feedback – you can reach me @dvellante.
